This project provided an opportunity to work again with a client to enhance a courtyard area formed by the existing garage and addition. CJP Architects referred to the area as the Kitchen Court as the primary view was from the new kitchen.
The addition, which was formed as a series of spaces, stands in contrast to the existing tightly restrained house. The design of the deck took its cues from the addition and is comprised of a series of levels in varying rectangular and square shapes. At the center of the deck is an exterior fire pit. In addition, a tall green wall shielded the exterior space from an alley as well as 3 fences that use the same exterior redwood cladding. The 3 redwood fences are also of varying sizes with varying widths of wood weaved through their metal structures.
