CJP Architects
Kolkmeier Residence - Room Divider

Springfield, Illinois

This project represented CJP Architects’ first commission for a functional piece of art. It was designed for a particular space, but in fact could be relocated to other locations. It is a wood panel held in place with an aluminum structure that is held in tension between (ostensibly) a floor and ceiling.

The wood panel is veneered on one side to match cabinetry in an adjacent room and is painted and lacquered on the opposite site. The abstract design stands in contrast to the rectangular surroundings and forms a simple barrier between a dining area and lounge space.
